Two Orbs. Instant Acceleration. I Got Them on Camera
One day after posting my last article on this strange phenomenon, the things returned - but this time I was waiting for them with a camera.
In my last post, I shared details about the strange and increasingly frequent UFO activity I’ve been witnessing since August 2024 - incidents that continue to defy conventional explanation, and remain unexplained in NUFORC’s (National UFO Reporting Center) database. I mentioned how I have been watching the sky for many years, and that I have never, ever seen anything up there as anomalous as what I have been seeing in the last 11 months.
You can check that article out by clicking below. It breaks down each incident in detail:
Something Strange is Happening Above the Skies of New York
Things are getting a bit too strange at this point, even for me…and that’s coming from somebody that lives for the strange stuff - chases it, even.
The day after I posted this article, those weird things - little orbs of light - came back again. This time I was waiting for them though, and had the camera rolling on a tripod when it happened.
Incident
On April 28th, 2025, around 9:30 PM, I was sitting outside, relaxing and recording the night sky. I usually spend a few minutes stargazing most nights simply because I enjoy it - and I almost never have a camera set up on a tripod like I did that evening. Obviously, that night was different: I was out there waiting in anticipation. Whatever it was that I had been seeing since last August, it was happening more frequently. Maybe I could catch one of these things on video, I thought. Despite my longstanding interest in the UFO phenomenon, I had never really actually tried to capture one on video. I guess because I wasn’t entirely sure if there really was anything up there to begin with.
It was a beautiful, crystal clear night out. I was just sitting out there in silence, watching satellites zip across the sky and the bats swooping down to eat the bugs. I remember thinking that I hope they were eating the ones that were annoying the hell out of me at that point.
Finally, after about a half hour sitting there quietly, I was ready to give up and call it a night. There was nothing up there but satellites, as nice of a night that it was. I got up from my chair and walked over to my iPhone on the tripod stand. As I did so, I noticed two particularly bright satellites flare up in the corner of my eye. I look up for a moment and realized that they were on a path to criss-cross in the sky, which always looks really neat, especially when they flare up simultaneously like they were doing.
It had been an uneventful night, so I figured I might as well watch them for a moment before packing up. I picked up the tripod with the camera still rolling and stood there for a moment watching them. I figured it was a good chance to see how well an iPhone could capture something like that. So I swiveled the tripod toward that part of the sky, curious if the lights were bright enough to show up on video.
That’s when it happened. Just a few seconds after I pointed the camera toward the two criss-crossing satellites, two dimly lit, circular, orb-shaped objects came blasting into view, almost directly in frame, just below the patch of sky I had been watching the satellites traverse, and the same patch of sky I was currently pointing my camera at.
These things were moving fast. Like, real fast. They were two dimly lit but seemingly self-luminous orb-shaped objects flying together in unison, but a lot lower than typical air traffic in the area. They looked like non-twinkling stars, but moving fast through the sky, drifting closer and further away from one another as they did so. It was clear to me by the way they flew that they were moving as a single unit, but were independently and intelligently controlled. They moved in a way that was sort of playful, similar to how two friends out riding motorcycles together might drift closer and further apart from each other while cruising down a stretch of open highway.
They were moving from my right to my left, flying northeast to southwest. As they whizzed overhead and passed me, I could clearly see two solid balls of light. The consistency of their lights were weird, though. They were perfectly uniform and similar to the light of a star, but were not twinkling, and were just….bizarrely solid, but a bit dim, too. Their outline was solid, not fuzzy, and there were no glares coming off of it. They were just two absolutely perfect circles of light flying super fast through the sky together, drifting closer and further apart to one another as they went.
What was so strange, though, was that while they were bright enough to be easily visible in those first few moments when they appeared over the tree line, they kept flickering in and out as their flight continued - as if they were passing behind an invisible layer of fog, or flying through a pixelated part of a livestream. It’s like they’d fly for awhile, then lose their definition and substance for a moment. When this happened, they’d turn into something that more resembled shadows - very difficult to see with the backdrop of the black night sky. Yet, I could still barely see them, and sense their motion as they continued their transit.
When that happened, it reminded me of how you barely notice bats flying around you - until a little black streak cuts through the air a few feet away. You know it was a bat, but all you really catch is a blur of fast-flapping wings and a flash of movement for a split second. When these little balls of light flickered out, they weren’t entirely invisible and their light wasn’t entirely extinguished, either. They would just suddenly reduce in luminosity, but continue to flicker a bit as they moved. They became very hard to see, but you could still see them cutting through the sky. Then, they’d suddenly flare back up to their original brightness.
As I watched them fly, I remember thinking how the dips in luminosity of these two objects seemed related to their movements. It was as if the way they were moving themselves was directly tied to their brightness. Almost as if every time their angle relative to me changed, or every time they changed direction or made an abrupt movement, they’d flicker out and then flicker back on. It was very odd.
As I continued to observe them flickering in and out, I was struggling to pivot my body fast enough to keep up with them, especially since I was still holding the heavy tripod in my arms. The camera was still rolling, but I wasn’t able to see if I was actually capturing these things on camera or not. Because they were quite bright and very low, I was confident that I was, though. As the objects flew by, I had to raise the tripod above my head at arms length so my view of the objects weren’t obstructed by the structure I was standing next to.
Anyway, as these two things zipped passed me, they spread further apart from each other and stopped their erratic back-and-forth movements. They then quickly turned left, almost like a dragonfly would suddenly dart in a different direction. Right after that, they snapped into a tighter formation, this time right next to each other, with one little ball of light/orb at the 9 AM position, and the other at the 3 PM position.
It was that moment where they both simultaneously and instantly “juked” or “zigged” to the right in unison. It was instant. Like, snap of your fingers fast. I couldn’t even see them go from one side to the other, either; it was just instantaneous. This is visible in the video as well - it wasn’t a camera artifact, or a result of me moving or shaking the camera. I saw them do this with my own eyes, it was amazing.
Right after the “zig” to the right, the two orbs suddenly began spreading apart from each other again. One of the orbs drifted into the 1:00 position, and the other positioned itself at the 8:00 position (in relation to one another). Once they both drifted into their respective positions, they both began banking left together as if they were a single body, like an airplane.
That was the last glimpse I had of them. They continued to bank left as they flew into the light pollution and quickly disappeared into the night.
Characteristics
Everything about this incident was strange, but I think what really creeped me out the most was how their flight resembled that of insects rather than any conventional aircraft or even birds. One of the first things I checked for was indications of flapping wings, because it wasn’t out of the question for birds or bats to be up there around that time (a bit late for birds, though). However, I saw no wing-flapping, and birds and bats don’t have a perfectly uniform glow that flickers in and out as they fly.
The way they moved truly resembled insects, like dragonflies darting around. Their movement was erratic, but simultaneously controlled and intelligent. They were moving with purpose, but in the chaotically purposeful way a dragonfly or some other insect does. Envision an insect flying from one end of a room to another, but zigging and zagging and ducking and diving while on its way there. That’s what it was like. Clearly heading in a single direction with purpose, but dicking around with each other as they did.
Below is a map of the sighting location with my estimated flight path overlaid. This path directly corresponds with the video footage of the objects. For best context, view this image alongside the video. The red line represents their general trajectory, while the circular highlights mark key moments of movement. For instance, circles #3 and #4 indicate the point where they made their sudden "zig" maneuver, which is visible on video. The very first circle is where I first saw them above the tree line. The bigger highlighted circle at the end indicates the point where the objects separated from each other and began banking to the left before disappearing:
Videos
If you have ever tried to record a video with an iPhone at night, you’ll know that the quality is terrible. This video is no different. In fact, it’s just another grainy video of lights in the sky. It’s unfortunate, because these incidents have really fucked with me. They just shouldn’t be possible. And what do I have to show for it? A shitty, grainy piece of footage of yet another instance of lights in the sky (as if the Internet and UFO community has a shortage of such videos….sigh). Because nobody reading this right now saw these objects themselves and only have my grainy video to go on, this video will be unimpressive to them. Any rational person would chalk this video up to birds, bats, whatever. I know what I saw though, and I know they weren’t birds, bats, satellites, or any conventional or consumer drones. I wish my phone was able to record them just as I was seeing them, but unfortunately, that just isn’t how it works.
However, for those of you that trust me and my word, or for those of you that don’t know me at all but have the courage to take my word for it anyway, I think you will find the video interesting. You need to really view it carefully though, otherwise some of its significance is lost. The significance of this video isn’t related to its quality, good or bad, but is rather demonstrated by what the objects do in the video. For one, most fuzzy UFO videos online don’t capture moments of instant acceleration. The ones that do are usually hoaxes, or the products of CGI shenanigans. While my video is grainy and fuzzy, it’s real, and it truly depicts two anomalous objects instantly accelerating in unison.
Last thing: I apologize for all the cussing in the video, I think I used the Lord’s name in vain like a billion times in it. My blood was pumping as I watched these things fly by and I was just dumbfounded and couldn’t help it. It was one of those jaw-dropping moments of amazement you know, so as cringe as it is, at least you can hear how genuinely shocked I was at what I was seeing.
Video #1: Normal Speed, Color Corrected
I only have one video of the objects, but I edited multiple copies and added varying degrees of slight color adjustments so you can see the objects better. Nothing complicated - just a slight boost to saturation and tinkering with the colors so the white of the orbs pops more. This is the best I could do. Remember, compare this video to the map above:
Unfortunately, it appears that the two objects came over the tree line just out of frame, which is why they aren’t visible in the beginning. However, here are the relevant timestamps:
0:00 - 0:06: just pointing the camera at the sky, looking around - this was right after the satellites criss-crossed in the sky
0:06 - 0:08: the two orbs blast over the tree line just out of frame, and I rapidly swivel my body and tripod to keep up with them. Note how fast I was turning here - the speed in which I was turning matches the speed in which they were flying above and passed me just out of frame.
0:08 - 0:11: objects still out of frame
0:12: objects first enter frame
0:12 - 0:15: objects flying together in unison, separately, but holding relatively tightly together. Hard to see, but two distinct balls of light are visible here
**0:16: instant acceleration. If you look carefully, you will see the objects quickly dart to the right. This was not a result of me shaking the camera - I was watching them with my naked eyes at this exact moment, and saw them do it.
0:17 - 0:19: objects make another strange movement, but not as fast - hard to see here
**0:19 - 0:21: objects suddenly drift apart from each other and assume the 8:00 and 1:00 position, and then hold that formation
**0:21 - 0:26: objects perform a clear banking maneuver, banking to the left, while maintaining the 8:00 and 1:00 position
0:27: objects lost in light pollution
The rest of the video is just a zoomed in version of the original.
Video #2: Fast Motion, Forward and Backward (Scrubbing)
Because the objects are so difficult to see in this video, I made an alternate version that highlights their position in the frame to make it easier for you. I did this by opening the video in my camera roll and scrubbing forward and backward repeatedly. This really highlights the bizarre flight characteristics of these things, and also makes the erratic movements more apparent:
Video #3: Color Corrected (RED), Blown out Colors, Zoomed
This version of the video has also been color corrected, but with an inverted color scheme designed to suppress the background and enhance detail in the two objects—particularly in the initial frames. The first few seconds will appear mostly black with scattered specks of color, but this edit makes the two orbs stand out more clearly than in the original clips. It also reveals detail in an earlier frame where the objects were previously not visible. The objects appear as red in this video (this was not their true color):
Video #4: Reenactment of Camera POV During Daylight
This is an entirely separate clip I shot a few days after the sighting. I reenacted the exact camera movements from the exact same position and POV as the videos above. You can use this video as a sort of reference point, since it is difficult to see what is going on in the background in the above videos since it’s so dark:
Last Thoughts
I’m just going to be frank here: I don’t know what I saw that night, or all of the other nights. As it stands right now, I have experienced six UFO events that cannot be explained by manmade objects. As I mentioned in my previous coverage on these incidents, what I saw was not distant lights in the sky, or something that was ambiguous. These weren’t moments where I had to squint my eyes to see whether I was looking at a satellite, a plane, or something else. These events weren’t something where I walked away wondering “huh, wonder what that was”, as if there is an easy explanation that just hasn’t dawned on me yet. I know what they were - they were straight up fucking UFOs, just like you’ve heard mentioned thousands of times throughout your life. There was no room for doubt in what I saw. I know exactly what I saw….I just don’t know what they were, where they come from, or why they have been appearing to me all of the sudden at such frequency.
The skies have been quiet since this last sighting - I haven’t seen anything at all since then. It’s like it stopped all at once.
I still replay the moments over and over in my head though because they were just so surreal. Part of me still can’t fully believe that I even saw these things, let alone more than once, let alone six times. It doesn’t make any sense, and I am at a complete loss. My video is shit, but at least I managed to capture something.
Lately, I’ve been feeling less optimistic about the future of UFOlogy - and what finally getting the answers we’ve been chasing might actually mean for us. The truth is, these things don’t need to be alien or non-human to have profound consequences for society. Someone - or something - is clearly in control.
What I witnessed was both awe-inspiring and unsettling. I loved it for the spectacle, but when I’m alone, staring up at the stars, I feel the weight of it all - the immensity, the unknown.
The way I see it, whoever or whatever is behind these phenomena owns the entire game board. The rest of us - the pawns - are just momentary distractions until the UFO subject inevitably boils over. And when that day comes, I no longer think it’ll be as thrilling or triumphant as I once imagined.
